In their first feature film since 2013's Monsters University, Emeryville-based Pixar takes a swing at the unlikeliest of foes: San Francisco pizza.
According to Pixar's press materials, their upcoming animated feature Inside Out follows Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and her emotions (Joy, voiced by Amy Poehler; Fear, voiced by Bill Hader; Anger, voiced by Lewis Black; Disgust, voiced by Mindy Kaling; and Sadness, voiced by Phyllis Smith) after she is "uprooted from her Midwest life when her father (Kyle MacLachlan) starts a new job in San Francisco."
Presumably, screenwriters Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley steer away from the loaded concepts of workers from elsewhere displacing folks from the city (as fun as a movie like that might be). However, they do take on just as sacred a San Francisco cow: they insult our pizza.
You can watch the offending scene below, and clear your schedule to picket local theaters with the temerity to screen the film when it opens on June 19.
