Yikes. The vermin/cockroach problem may be more rampant in the Castro than previously understood as we learn of yet another health-department shutdown in the neighborhood, the second in just three weeks. Yesterday we learned about Mandu shutting down and rebranding as Janchi, and now Hoodline reports that Posh Bagel (495 Castro Street) is temporarily shuttered as well, for a similar problem.

According to a health department inspector, the proprietor had been warned repeatedly against using "domestic pesticides," meaning store-bought vermin/insect abatement methods, and therefore got an order of closure this week when an inspection turned up evidence of "cockroach and vermin infestation."

The place was hoping to reopen today, Wednesday, but it's unclear if they will. Stay tuned.
