The Frontier of Oregon Craft Beer
Our fair neighbors to the north take their beer almost as seriously as we do, but it's rare to hear about smaller Oregon breweries taking the time to share their good works here in California. The crew at Base Camp Brewing Company, however, has been busy spreading their brand of craft beer gospel throughout the Bay Area as part of their under-the-radar Spring Tour.
“We put a lot of thought into everything we do,” says Base Camp's co-founder Joey Dallas of the Portland, Oregon-based brewery's suds. “Beers that are at once approachable and exciting can be tough to pin down, but we feel it's worth the extra effort.”
Base Camp's unique flavor of Great Outdoors adventure plus no-compromises craft beer, the “peanut butter & jelly of the Pacific Northwest” as described by Dallas, has garnered a warm reception here in California. The two-year-old brewery's bottles and cans are currently distributed throughout the state, most recently into Los Angeles and San Diego.
Base Camp at Mendocino County's Boonville Brew Fest
Interested in getting your hands on some of their more-rare offerings? They plan to wind up the Spring Tour at this weekend's Legendary Boonville Brew Fest, a long-time favorite of the Base Camp crew. Tickets for the festival can be purchased via Anderson Valley Brewing Company's website. Bonus for all you SFist readers that attend: give 'em a high five, let them know you saw Base Camp here, on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, and they'll give you a pour of a Super Secret Special beer at the festival.
