A homeless man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a 5-year-old girl as she passed him on a Marina sidewalk.
According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Carlos Manfredi, 31-year-old Adras Kosdi (pictured above) approached a woman and her child at the corner of Union and Octavia Streets at around 7:40 Wednesday morning.
Without warning, Manfredi says, Kosdi "grabbed the girl by the neck, lifted her up and pushed her into a wall."
Speaking with ABC7, Sergeant Mike Andraychak says that "the girl was walking with her mother when this man came up to the child, unprovoked, grabbed her by the neck, lifted her off the ground and placed her against the side of a building."
The mother called 911 immediately, and police arrested Kosdi on the spot.
The girl "sustained a bloody scratch and other injuries to her neck," Manfredi says, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. She is expected to make a full recovery.
According to KRON4, Kosdi "told police that he had a medical illness and he was taken to a separate hospital for examination."
Kosdi was eventually booked at San Francisco County Jail on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault and child abuse.
