Marvel's latest mega-million-dollar toy commercial has finally arrived, and it's Ant-Man! Swarming and invading its way into multiplexes this July, Ant-Man stars Hollywood tough guy Paul Rudd as the titular superhero (alias: Scott Lang), with Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, a guru-like figure who passes on The Way of the Ant to the Ruddmeister. And yes, this is the full-sized trailer, not the "ant-sized" teaser teaser that annoyed pretty much everyone.

Plot details are hazy at this point, but Scott Lang is a petty criminal who must wear the Ant-Man suit in order to Do What's Right and get his shot at redemption. Hank Pym once wore the suit according to Marvel mythos and acts as Lang's mentor, but it seems as if Douglas' portrayal is a watering-down of the comic book character.

The latest in blockbusters to use scenic San Francisco as a backdrop, Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed, whose previous credits include Bring It On, The Break-Up, and the underrated Down With Love. Ant-Man is the second in his Man trilogy, being the follow up to 2008's Yes Man (just kidding). It wasn't always Reed's project, however, as the film was originally an Edgar Wright joint. Wright, best known for Shaun Of The Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, has cred with both comic and film geeks alike, so his departure was seen as a huge loss for the film. Whatever, not like this movie won't rake it in at the box office anyway.

Yes it looks like more the same-old-stuff from Marvel, so your mileage may vary. At least Paul Rudd asks what we're all thinking at the end of the trailer: "Is it too late to change the name?"
