The stately home featured in the 1993 Robin Williams film Mrs. Doubtfire was struck by an arsonist last night according to the San Francisco Police Department. A veritable Pacific Heights tourist attraction since that film, the doorstep was recently the site of makeshift memorials to Williams, who died in August.
At around 8 p.m. PST, one fire was set on the doormat and another near the garage of the house at Steiner and Broadway Streets. According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the current owner of the home, who purchased it in 2000 for $1,395,000, was able to put out the flames. The garage and front door were left scorched.
NBC News reminds us that the homeowner is a pioneering doctor who specializes in facial feminization surgeries, and according to the Daily Mail, police believe the arsonist to be a former patient with some kind of grudge.
