Tonight, a small but foodinista-anticipated opening is happening at 848 Geary (between Hyde and Larkin), and it's called Huxley. The place is a collaboration between executive chef Sara Hauman (formerly on the line at Bar Agricole), consulting chef Brett Cooper (formerly of Outerlands, and soon to be chef at Aster, in the former Beast & the Hare space on Guerrero), and owner/manager Kris Esqueda (formerly of Saison, Sons & Daughters, and Vinyl Cafe).

Like I said, it's really small — just 25 seats, 10 of which are stools around the bar — and there won't be reservations. You can see the brief menu below, which features things like a beef short-rib pot pie, roast pork, and a farro porridge with medjool dates and hazelnuts. And you can expect some interesting wine selections from Esqueda, which you can also see below.

Huxley will be open Tuesday to Saturday, from 5:30 to 10:30. The website, still under construction, is here.
