A tipster sent in this photo of a mock guillotine, complete with severed and bloodied mannequin head, that's been installed in the front yard of a West Portal home for the Halloween season. Looking to attract many trick-or-treaters this year?
Despite being a city with an extremely low percentage of families with children, we're regularly ranked high on the list of cities for trick-or-treating nationwide due to our density, walkability, home values, and relatively low crime rates.
Of course, unless you live in Noe Valley, Seacliff, Cow Hollow, Presidio Heights or Glen Park, you probably have never seen a trick-or-treater at your door. But for those kids lucky enough to grow up here, they're probably going home a major haul of full-size (and sometimes artisanal) candy bars, and probably a pile of sugar- and gluten-free items that end up in the trash as well.
