When a team wants to show off their new uniforms, there's typically a press conference, with print, broadcast, and online all jockeying for a look at the new duds. But not the Golden State Warriors! Instead, the soon-to-be SF- based NBA team took over Twitter headquarters to announce their big news: the basketball team is going grey.

In a Sunday afternoon event held in Twitter's cafeteria, a reported ten "social media influencers" slash Warriors fans got to see the team's new grey uniforms, because grey is the most wonderful, thrilling, athletic color there is.

Oh, wait, the team actually says the color is "slate," not grey, because "Slate represents not only the technology and innovation synonymous with the Bay Area, but also the body armor for the team on the court." OK! Sure it does. The color is also "a new color for the NBA," the Warriors say, which makes sense because the shade seems way more business casual than down to business on the court.

As the Chron notes, the Warriors took a beating when they dumped their traditional tank top jerseys for the short sleeved cyclist look a few years ago. Perhaps that's one of the reasons the organization chose to share the new look with a crowd they could expect to be a little more receptive.

But that could only last so long, as comments began to pile up on the Warriors' press release that drubbed the jerseys...

...and as fans began to lament that the new shirts "look like a trash bag." Dam right, they do.

Assuming the critiques continue, this'll be the second mockery of their aesthetic judgement the team will have faced in recent weeks: after new designs for the Warriors' SF arena were released, many remarked that the stadium looked an awful lot like a toilet. That comparison has "sources close to the team predicting the design will be flushed," the Chron reports. Which would be too bad, because I'm already working on my trash bags in a toilet headlines.

Below, see some of the kinder reactions to the uniforms from the "influencers," who re/code reports, were "everyday fans as well as a mix of Twitter users who carry serious clout, including Twitter’s head of advertising Adam Bain (a season ticket holder), Ian Padgham of Origiful (who has turned Vine into a career) and John and Sam Shahidi (co-founders of the selfie app Shots)."

The team will first officially suit up in their inspiring grey garb on their November 15 game against the Charlotte Hornets. They'll then wear them for every Saturday game for the rest of the season, or until we're all lulled asleep by the gentle charcoal shade, whichever comes first.
