Here's an important tidbit that came via Five-Thirty-Eight's ongoing Burrito Bracket coverage late last week: Taqueria Cancun's Mission location has a new landlord, and co-owner Gerardo Rico sounds very nervous about this. He tells burrito correspondent Anna Maria Barry-Jester that he doesn't know what may become of the restaurant (not discussing the fact that they have two other fairly successful locations), and Barry-Jester and now Eater have taken this to mean that the famed taqueria could be in danger of closing.

Be that as it may, Barry-Jester had her second burrito at the place and was somehow, inexplicably, unimpressed the second time around after singing Cancun's praises just a few weeks back in the initial round. This means that Cancun got beat out in this round by a taqueria in El Paso, Delicious Mexican Eatery, and that the only San Francisco/Mission-style burrito that will make it into the Final Four of this bracket is La Taqueria.

La Taqueria. Did you catch that? Anyone who knows anything about burritos in this town, and tacos, knows that you go to La Taqueria for one reason only: their tacos. They make those great, filling, cone-shaped beasts that make for their lack of meat quality with sheer heft and novelty. And lots of sour cream.

This place is not known for good al pastor. Their carne asada is salty and otherwise bland. And their burritos are, therefore, nothing to write home about. So, sorry to say it Anna Maria Barry-Jester, but as far as San Francisco is concerned, your burrito cred has been destroyed.

Did I mention she eliminated El Farolito, too? Yep.

Here's the quadrant, as it stands.
