A pedestrian was struck and killed by a 38-Geary bus just east of the Masonic Avenue Target, and steps away from the San Francisco Municipal Railway Presidio yard early Monday, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Gordon Shyy, the pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, was struck at 1:10 this morning while crossing on Geary Boulevard near Lyon Street.
The pedestrian, who KPIX reports was a man, was not walking in a crosswalk when hit by the eastbound bus, Shyy says.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Shyy says, and has yet to be identified by the medical examiner's office.
The collision remains under investigation, and, as is protocol in all Muni crashes, the bus driver will be tested for drugs or alcohol.
