An unidentified man in his 30s was shot early this morning at the normally quiet corner of 16th and Dolores Streets, and this is starting to freak everyone out. As Mission Local reports, there were six gunshots in total and the victim was found lying on the curb on Dolores around 5 a.m., and he was taken to S.F. General with non-life-threatening injuries.
There are two suspects at large, but the SFPD has no descriptions of them at this time. And while robbery could have been a motive, it appears they didn't steal anything.
I don't want to get anyone excited under false pretenses, but does everyone remember the gun-happy days of the summer of 2008 in the Mission when the Norteños and Sureños were killing each other practically every day? The last five days in the Mission are reminding me of that, even though no connections are yet being drawn between the four shootings/homicides that have happened since Friday.
First, there was the shooting death of 25-year-old Dominic Anderson on Friday morning a few blocks away at 15th and Mission Streets. Then on Monday night a man was found stabbed to death near 16th and Capp, and Tuesday morning a man in his 30s was shot multiple times and killed near 25th and Connecticut Streets.
Let's hope this is just a fluke uptick in what's been a relatively non-violent year so far.
