In that larger, sprawling city to our south, a sizeable illegal nightlife operation featuring 30 waitresses and "eight locked, private VIP rooms" was raided early Friday after police received a report of a fight outside the club.

Police entered the club, which was housed in an industrial building at 800 Commercial Street, San Jose, to find a big operation including a "hostess-style bar" (whatever that is), and this warren of "VIP rooms" that makes it sound like prostitution just might have been occurring, though the initial report from Bay City News doesn't mention that.

The raid happened around 1 a.m. Friday, and police seized a bunch of evidence including money the owner was carrying around, and bottles of alcohol. The owner was booked on on suspicion of violating state and local alcohol and business codes.

We'll let you know if the story gets any more seedy/interesting.
