House Minority Leader and SF homegirl Nancy Pelosi, remarkably not exhausted by the last year of bullshit in Congress, confirms this week that she will be running for her House seat again in 2014. Paperwork for the election has to be submitted by March 7, and she said in a statement Thursday, "I'm running. I've already started the paperwork process. My work is not finished."
A few rumors started swirling this week about Nancy's possible departure after the news of the retirements of two of her longtime California Democrat friends in the House, Rep. Henry Waxman and Rep. George Miller.
But after 27 years in Congress, Nancy's not done yet, even though she said in an interview last year that she wasn't especially interested in ever being Speaker of the House again. She held the post from 2007 to 2011.
Her resilience is pretty astounding given the mess she's dealt with in the House the last couple of years, and given the fact that she's turning 74 in March. As she put it in that same interview, regarding her Republican foes' obstructionism, "Their agenda is nothing, and their timetable is never. But having said that, hopefully there are some among them that realize we have a responsibility to govern."
