A man died early Wednesday morning after his car was riddled with bullets somewhere near Third and Brannan in SOMA. The incident happened a little before 5 am.

According to KRON 4 Morning News, a motorist inside a gold Toyota Corolla driving on Brannan between 3rd and and 4th street flagged down a fire truck. When the victim got out of the car, firefighters realized he had been shot in the head. After transporting the victim to SF General, the victim succumbed to his wounds.

The car, which was mangled after crashing into something presumably after the shooting, had several bullet holes inside of it. KTVU, however, reports a slightly different story, noting, "According to police, four people were inside a car approaching 3rd and Bryant on their way to the Bay Bridge when someone opened fire on the vehicle."

Brannan was closed while the scene was cleared. it has since reopened.

No arrests have been made. We'll update as soon as we know more.
