Local drag artistes have joined forces to reimagine onstage what is arguably the greatest sitcom ever to air. We are, of course, talking about Friends. (Fine, it's a three-way tie between Seinfeld and Out of This World.) From October 24th to November 21st, you can catch 10 performances of Friends: Live. What to expect, you ask? Hilarity from Heklina and other talented queens and kings. What else? Well, I for one would like to see the following:
Ms. Chanandler Bong
Any Thanksgiving episode
Monica and Chandler hooking up in London
"We were on a break!"
Pretty much anything having to do with Rachel Karen Green
Ross' leather pants
Joey in the VD ads
1 Yemen Road, Yemen
This is going to be rad. Wish I were in it. Can I at least be the ladybug, with a top hat? She's fancy.
The production is brought to you by Velvet Rage Productions (Sex and the City: Live, Roseanne: Live, Designing Women: Live). The show is fitting titled "The One Where Everybody's In Drag." It stars Leigh Crow (Joey), Heklina (Phoebe), Nancy French (Chandler), Steven LeMay (Monica), Gerri Lawlor (Ross) and D’Arcy Drollinger (Rachel).
Rebel: 1760 Market Street (at Octavia). Two shows nightly every Thursday, 7pm and 9pm. Seating is limited. Tickets -- $20 (online) or $25 (at the door) -- are available here.
