Two young men, both aged 19, were arrested following a failed attempt to rob a television news crew on Friday night. This all happened around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Third and LaSalle, as Bay City News reports.

During the attempted robbery, one of the suspects was shot by a security guard, and later he walked into S.F. General with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. No one on the news crew was injured.

The suspects are identified as Armani McFarland and John Woods, and both are now in custody.

This incident follows on a wave of similar incidents in Oakland in the last few years involving TV crews who were robbed of their equipment, sometimes violently, leading them now to have to bring armed security with them.
