You knew it was going to be a bad fire season after that gloriously dry winter. And, it is. There was another wildfire this week up in Shasta County that is currently at 12.5 square miles (7,993 acres) and is at 65% containment, and it's already destroyed 68 homes and over a hundred outbuildings.

There are several other fires currently burning or smoldering across the state, including the Morgan Fire in the East Bay, which is 90% contained as of this morning; the remnants of the Rim Fire, still at 80% containement; two fires in the Sequoia National Forest down south, and the Lyons Fire down near San Diego. See the updated map from CalFire here.

By their count, there are 10 fires currently still going.

Just remember that all it takes is a couple more illegal campfires or tossed cigarette butts and we may not have a state left.
