A bold group jewelry thieves opted for a drive-in breakfast at Tiffany's early this morning. Around 5:45 a.m. Thursday, four suspects crashed a stolen Ford pickup truck through the trademark metal doors at the downtown Walnut Creek location and proceeded to loot the place.
The suspects apparently only made off with smaller jewelry items, leaving much of the company's silver scattered across the floor of the retail space. The most valuable jewels are kept in a separate safe, probably due to potential situations like these.
The stolen truck was registered in Citrus Heights, but several witnesses told police that they saw thieves make their getaway in a white SUV which they think was a Chevy Blazer. CHP is currently on the lookout for the crooks around Highway 24. Walnut Creek Police, meanwhile, are following up on leads and examining the store's security footage.
