The Padres may be in last place in the National League West, but the Giants were there just a week ago and only have one more win than they do, putting them in second to last place after Sunday's game in San Diego.

Following on a three-game winning streak for the Giants and Lincecum's career-first no-hitter on Saturday, the Padres managed to eke out a 10-1 win yesterday to save face. That leaves the Padres with 42 wins and 54 losses, and the Giants with 43 wins and 51 losses so far this season. Their record at home is only slightly better than it's been on the road, but the three wins against the Padres have helped a little — they've now won 18 games and lost 31 while away.

Compare that with the top-ranked St. Louis Cardinals, who have won 57 games, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, top-ranked in the West, at 50 games.

Midway through the season fans are waiting for the Giants to save this sinking ship, and Lincecum's Saturday glory may be what they needed after they were no-hit themselves by Reds pitcher Homer Bailey two weeks ago.

Bleacher Report has some analysis of the demise of the team after last year's World Series win, including the loss of Vogelsong and Pagan to injuries, Cain's pitching funk, and Sandoval's batting funk. Read it if you want to feel depressed.
