In the summer months, the wild coyotes that roam the woodsy areas in Golden Gate Park can get particularly ornery while keeping watch over their recently born pups. Those little guys, while adorable, probably won't get along well with your rambunctious Jack Russell.
To warn dog owners and walkers to keep their pets on a short lease in the presence of less domesticated canines, the city's Rec and Parks department has posted notices around off-leash dog areas in the northwestern side of the park around the Bison Paddock and Chain of Lakes.
Obviously, neighbors and park visitors should not try to feed any coyotes. As evidenced by the photo above from late June, those guys have no problem slaughtering Golden Gate Park ducks on their own.
