An unidentified man riding his bike early this morning in East Oakland was shot and killed. Responding to Shot Spotter, police received calls from residents at around 5:30 a.m. on the 9800 block of A Street near International Boulevard. There they found the man's body. At least a dozen shots had been fired.
"The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He is believed to be a 25-year-old Oakland resident but whether he lived in the area of the shooting was not known," reports Oakland Tribune.
This morning's fatal shooting comes on the heels of another Oakland bout of gunplay. Another man was shot around 11 p.m. "while sitting in a car on the 7800 block of MacArthur Boulevard." In this case, however, the victim was able to get himself to a nearby hospital for help.
No arrests in either case have been made.
