Tonight kicks off the summer movie series in Dolores Park and Union Square that we reminded you of the other week, and the kickoff film for our chilly summer will be Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's the movie that made Harrison Ford's career, post-Star Wars, and it co-stars a young and spunky Karen Allen, who went on to star in Starman opposite Jeff Bridges, and who figures again in the most recent Indiana Jones installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) as the mother of Indie's child, Henry, played by Shia LeBeouf.
No matter what, you can expect it to be cold and/or windy in the park tonight, and you should bring blankets and many layers, as well as a bevy of alcoholic beverages (not legal, so we don't condone this obviously). Also, we expect you to police each other should those near you get too loud, because the sound is never terrific at these things, and you will want to hear Harrison Ford clearly, in his prime, delivering such lines as "Give me the whip," and "I'm gonna blow up the Ark, Rene."
Here's the full schedule of movie nights, but be aware that they're mostly in Marin until August, when the next Dolores Park movie happens: The Princess Bride on August 3rd. And don't forget to consult our beverage pairing recommendations.
