In pressing chain restaurant news, the world's best-named restaurant is coming to the Embarcadero. (We're rooting for you, Embarcadero. We're all rooting for you.). And it's none other than Crystal Jade!
"Nope, it’s not an ad for a spa at the back of a weekly, nor is it an ultra-lounge, tranny, nor the latest starlet at the AVN Awards," quips Tablehopper. "It’s a restaurant, and the new location is huge, with 16,000 square feet of interior and 4,000 square feet of outdoor space, and the plan is to 'create more than 100 jobs during their first phase of operations.' "
The mayor's office (in lieu of a private PR firm) sent out the press release (which magically failed to materialize in our inbox, Mr. Lee), and notes that it's the chain's first entry into the United States for the Singapore-based Culinary Concepts Holding. Gus Murad (of Medjool) has also signed on to the project, Tablehopper goes on to report.
Crystal Jade should open in spring 2014.
