San Francisco -- at last! -- is getting its very first Applebee's. What is an Applebee's? We personally have no idea. A Denny's with a bar, according to mythical lore. But Inside Scoop's Paolo Lucchesi reports that an Applebee's will land in the Wharf. And we couldn't be happier.
Lucchesi notes:
According to liquor licenses applications, the chain restaurant that bills itself as a “taste of the neighborhood” is plotting its first San Francisco location. It’s slated to be found on Fisherman’s Wharf, unsurprisingly, where it should fit in nicely with its new neighbors like the Rainforest Cafe and Bubba Gump’s; the official address is 2770 Taylor Street, which is just off Jefferson.
Fisherman's Wharf gets all the good illicit food, doesn't it? In-N-Out, McDonald's, Allioto's.
To find out more about Applebee's, we asked Chicagoist editor Chuck Sudo for more details. "We do have Applebee's in Chicago," Sudo explains. "It's the opposite of the motto 'When you're here, you're family.' "
Familial or not, we look forward to not only dining at the city's very first Applebee's, but attending the grand opening. (Anything to get away from pretentious food media and drunk PR sheep, right? Most of them would't be caught dead.)
Opening date TK. Also, OHMYGOD.
