An intoxicated two-year-old was taken to Ukiah Valley Medical Center last Thursday night when his grandmother, who had just picked the boy up from his mother's home in Mendocino County, noticed he smelled like alcohol and was visibly ill. Upon arriving at the hospital, tests showed the boy was under the influence of methamphetamine and a life-threatening amount of alcohol.
Mendocino County sheriff's deputies investigating a pretty obvious case of child abuse went to the mother's home in Philo, California where the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports they found 22-year-old Samantha Delvalle and her 21-year-old boyfriend shacked up with open bottles of booze and various drug paraphernalia easily within the child's reach. Both were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug intoxication. Mabery was released on a bail bond Tuesday, but the mother remains in the Mendocino County Jail. Their court hearing is scheduled for March 19th.
The boy is now in the hopefully more capable hands of his biological father.
