The northeast part of the Embarcadero around Pier 29 was shut down around 3:15 p.m. this afternoon when a jumper climbed a scaffolding and threatened to commit suicide. According to police, the man had been at 1 Embarcadero earlier where he allegedly hit someone with a skateboard, kicked another person down and then fled the scene.
The scaffolding is part of the construction the America's Cup building going up on Piers 27-29 where there was a fire earlier this year. Around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, Police told Bay City News the suspect was climbing down.
Update: SFWeekly reports the man took a seat for about half an hour before he climbed down. He was handcuffed and taken away from the scene in an ambulance.
