Hey, people who eat things, the 2013 Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand picks were revealed today. For those not in the know, Bib Gourmand selections are considered exemplary examples of establishments serving two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less. Think of them as the DKNY line of eateries.
As Grub points out, there are bevy newbies and some surprising omissions this year. "Notable additions this year are Marlowe, Comal, and Yountville's Redd Wood. Meanwhile a couple of spots that have made the cut several years running, namely Delarosa, Incanto, Pican, BarBersQ, and Michael Chiarello's Bottega, got dropped this year."
And, yes, a notable exclusion this year was Incanto, famous for (among other things) having newly crowned Top Chef Masters winner Chris Cosentino at the helm. But who knows. Maybe it'll get a star? Or not. Or maybe the guide's "famously anonymous" judges (see: local food writers) aren't Bravo fans? Whatever. It's food. It's all so subjective -- and more often than not, downright silly. Eat your truffle oil, have a long island iced tea, enjoy yourself, and fuck that noise.
Anyway. Here's the 2013 list.
