The city's tastiest, yet filthiest, place to grab cheap Vietnamese (as well as the greatest imperial rolls) could close for good. Today, the city revoked their permit after temporarily shutting it down two weeks ago for egregious health violations.
"Health officer Tomas Aragon, who conducted the hearing, decided that Tu Lan's extensive history of health violations justified shutting it doors permanently, " reports the Chronicle. "Tu Lan's violations include such things as cockroaches and mice in the kitchen, lack of hand-washing among employees and improper food storage."
Tu Lan is nestled in the heart of the city's infamous Sixth and Market vortex of grit and screeching. Its owner, Anthony Nguyen, can make one last-ditch effort to save his permit by appealing to the Board of Appeals. Fingers crossed.
