Bay Area gang members are infamously dim. Not the sharpest tools in the organized-crime shed. Take, for example, what happened over the weekend to a Richmond high school football player, who was shot and killed Sunday night.

Ulises Grijalva, 16, was wearing his team color, red, while walking with a pal near his home on McDonald Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.

"I heard the shots, unfortunately it was my brother," Grijalva's sister, Mitzu, she told KTVU. "They say he got shot five times -- He didn't deserve it. He was an excellent kid. He played football. All of his coaches came to see him when they heard the news. .. The only mistake he made tonight was he was wearing the wrong colors." She went on to say, "Everybody knew he was a good boy. He never got into any trouble."

Although authorities have yet to confirm a motive, Richmond police say a suspect is now in custody for questioning.
