If this were anywhere else in the country besides Seattle, you'd be sweating right now. And July 4th is, traditionally, a sweaty time of year, a time for blowing things up and drinking frozen drinks and mopping one's brow with one's sleeve. Here in San Francisco it will, in fact, be pretty warm tomorrow! A balmy 68 by some accounts, which certainly isn't hot but it's far better than we were expecting. Will the fog still block your view of the fireworks? Very likely. But you can dare to dream. And at least the daytime part won't be frigid. You'll just have to protect your extremities from bottle rockets.

Tonight should be celebratory. A Friday in the middle of the week, dancing in the streets. It may not even be too windy. Light-sweater weather. But the beer will be flowing, and there'll be more friends in town than usual unless they arranged extra-long weekends with work. Let the games begin.
