Gay Pride is almost upon us, and there are a few rainbow flags on Market Street to prove it. The governor has, in fact, declared this whole month Gay Pride Month. So if you're gay, or L or T or Q, or if you're just really, really proud of your LGBTQ friends, we've got a couple of events for you to consider for which advance-purchase tickets are encouraged.

vito-frameline.jpg Frameline 36 - Opening Night Screening & Gala - June 14
San Francisco's LGBT Film Festival, Frameline, kicks off their 36th year with a screening of Jeffrey Schwarz’s new documentary about LGBT activist and queer film scholar Vito Russo. Vito tells the story of Vito's early activism, having witnessed the community response to the Stonewall Riots in New York, and follows him through the founding of ACT UP, and the publication of his seminal book on gay characters and themes in Hollywood history, The Celluloid Closet. As always, the screening will be at the Castro theater, followed by a gala opening night party at Temple nightclub in SoMa. Get tickets for the film and gala here, or if you just want to go to the party, those tickets are here. See the rest of the festival schedule here.

sex-city-live.gif Sex and the City Live - June 18, 19, and 26
You know those stage re-enactments of The Golden Girls that Heklina and three other drag queens do every year at Christmas? Well, they're doing Sex and the City episodes now, with Heckles as Carrie of course, Lady Bear as Miranda, D'Arcy Drollinger as Samantha, and Trixxxie Carr as Charlotte. There's a performance next Tuesday, and then the following two weeks too. Get $20 advance tickets here (they will sell out), or chance it at the door for $25.

It's the final annual kickoff shindig for Pride weekend, the last Mr. This mustache party put together by Juan Garcia of Beatbox Events and sponsored by NakedSword, will feature former Fag Fridays DJs Rolo and David Harness, as well as Omar Perez and Jeremy Blake on the upstairs bar level. This year the party moves to Monarch (6th and Mission), meaning it will be smaller and sell out way sooner, so get a $10 advance ticket here while you can.

juanita-flyer.jpg Juanita More's Annual Pride Party - Sunday, June 24
Lots of people have said this is the best (gay) party of the year, and if the weather holds, it will be again. This year Juanita couldn't contain her annual post-parade blowout at the Phoenix Hotel alone. The party will start there, earlier than usual at 12:30 around the pool, and then shuttle service will be running from 3 p.m. to 7 to the nighttime venue, Jones, with its huge outdoor patio, and where the festivities can continue until midnight. $25 advance tickets aren't available online until June 11, but they can be purchased now at Sui Generis (2231 Market Street) or Retro Fit (910 Valencia Street). Some tickets will be available at the door, but that's never wise, and the line will be bad.
