The life of a politically irrelevant, celebrity Lieutenant Governor can be be tough sometimes. Between finding time to interview Lance Armstrong and hanging out at fundraising galas, the Lite Gov. barely has any time left over for boring, old Sacramento. Talking to local hotelier Chip Conley between takes of his Current TV program recently, Newsom dropped a classic Gavin-ism while a reporter from the capital was in the studio:

"How often are you up in Sacramento?" the hotelier asked.

"Like one day a week, tops," Newsom said. "There's no reason."

It can be slow at the Capitol.

"It's just so dull," Newsom said. "Sadly, I just, ugh, God."

Newsom, who has been spending a lot of time across King Street from AT&T Park at Current TV's SOMA studios, went on to shed some more light on his hopes for The Gavin Newsom Show, which is now a couple episodes deep in its first run: "This is not 'Crossfire,' " Newsom told the Sacramento Bee. "I'm not here to take cheap shots. … I want to mine someone's brain for what's working."

As far as we can tell, no one has recently bothered to mine Gavin's brain for anything other than that petroleum-rich deposit on his head.
