The campaign to save the Gold Dust Lounge will hold their first "official" event this Thursday (that's tomorrow!) at 4 p.m. The event, which the group posted on Facebook this afternoon, will include both a press conference and an opportunity to pickle your liver at low prices not seen since the early 30s.

In attendance at the press conference will be City Supervisor and Board President David Chiu (who looks like he loves a $3 margarita), Christopher Caen (inheritor of Herb Caen's Loyal Royal typewriter), and legendary trial lawyer Joe Cotchett.

During the event, "Gold Dust chips" will be handed out, good for classic cocktails at prices that have been reverse-adjusted for inflation to a very wallet-friendly Two Bits (25¢). The group says they need to draw a big crowd to the tiny bar in order to put on a good show for the TV crews and Inside Scoop reports that organizers hope the stunt will bring all involved parties back to the negotiation table.

The Gold Dust Lounge, for the Union Square-averse, is located at 247 Powell Street between Geary and O'Farrell Streets.
