SFPD announced Friday night that they have arrested a 32-year-old suspect wanted in connection with three Mission District sexual assaults. Acting on anonymous tips from the community, San Francisco Police Officers arrested their suspect at Cesar Chavez and Treat Street. Investigators from the special victims unit linked the suspect to the attacks using the previously released surveillance footage and physical evidence from the crime scenes.

The suspect, whose name is not being released yet due to "pending identification matters", has been charged several counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery in connection with three separate incidents that occurred in June, November and December of last year.

As SFPD Lieutenant Jason Fox, who worked the case, explained to Mission Local, "This is old-fashioned police work. We were able to identify the suspect with information from a tip, then looked at surveillance. We were able to narrow it down further and then we were able to get him."

District Supervisor Scott Wiener sent out the following message last night announcing the arrest:

Chief Suhr just informed me that SFPD has in custody the person they believe committed the Fair Oaks rape and one other rape. This is excellent news. SFPD will be putting out a press release with additional information. Thank you to everyone for the amazing work getting the community through this nightmare.

Update: The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Frederick Dosier Dozier.

Update 2: The suspect's name was misspelled by the SFPD as Dosier, and is actually Dozier. He was identified with help from an anonymous tip and has been connected to DNA evidence found at one of the scenes. [Appeal]
