Rincon Hill. It's more than an onramp. It's also home to a new dog park. Well, almost home to a new dog park. According to LiveSOMA, it's being held up "due to PG&E and getting electricity to the park." But it should open in no time.
The canine park will run alongside the foot of the Bay Bridge at Beale and Bryant streets. And it's a must for pooch owners in the area, of which there are many.
So, what's it like, you ask? Noted design critic John King from The Chronicle described it thusly: "The park includes a corner plaza with trees and drought-tolerant shrubs inside low concrete retaining walls. Through a gate are two fenced-in spaces for the four-legged set: a circular area for small dogs and a long run for their larger brethren. The decomposed granite surfaces supposedly are laid out to prevent dust and unsavory aromas."
