A thief at Stonestown Galleria made off with a woman's iPhone after nabbing it right out of her hands while she shopped Wednesday evening. But the thief didn't get too far with it. Bay City News reports, via the Appeal, that the thief hopped on a Muni bus where he started gloating about about his misdemeanor.

A fellow Muni passenger, and upstanding citizen as far as we're concerned, called in the braggart prompting SFPD to stop the bus and detain several possible suspects. The victim quickly identified the thief, her smartphone was found on his person and the suspect was booked on suspicion of robbery. Maybe he should have just kept his mouth shut and stared blankly in to the iPhone's warming glow like the rest of us Muni riders.
