We like reading the alt weeklies for you. Really we do. Because on a lovely day like today, why should you be carrying extra reading material? So please take our word for which highlights are worth it, etc.

SF Weekly

Worth Reading: The review of this year's Thrillpeddlers' production, just in time for Halloween: Shocktoberfest 12! For those who aren't aware, these shows model themselves on the bloody, gory Théâtre du Grand-Guignol in Paris (Theater of the Big Puppet), and this year's theme is S.F. noir.

Funny: The Giants can't trademark the cursive-script 'San Francisco' logo that's emblazoned all over all those sweatshirts, because the company that makes the sweatshirts, Gogo Sports of Hayward, already trademarked it.

Don't Bother: Joe Eskenazi helps the paper butch it up this week with a cover story about -- what's this? -- boxing! And a boxer, Karim Mayfield, who works out at the boxing gym at 7th and Market and who's up for his first title fight. For those who might be interested in an SF version of The Fighter, then maybe this lengthy profile belongs in the Worth Reading segment. But, eh. (Also, loyal readers of SFist already know about Mayfield from when we went to the Golden Gloves in 2006.)
