The case against accused murderer Giselle Esteban just got a lot stronger as authorities have ID'd the remains found over the weekend in Niles Canyon as those of missing nursing student Michelle Le. This brings a tragic end to a four-month nightmare for Le's family, who up until recently were still holding out hope that she might be found alive.
Forensic pathology has not yet been performed to determine Le's cause of death. She disappeared, as you probably know by now, on May 27 from the parking garage at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Hayward, where she was in the middle of a class. Esteban has been identified as being on security camera footage in the garage, and both her and Le's cell phones traveled in tandem that evening to the remote area where Le's body was found.
Esteban appeared in Alameda County Court yesterday to enter a plea, but that plea was delayed because Esteban's defense attorney has not yet committed to representing her. The judge gave them until next Monday to figure out Le's defense counsel.
