The weather is lovely this time of year. Which means even the casual cyclists are rolling up one pant leg and getting out there to push the pedals. So it make sense that the city should have a few bike-related events happening all this week. On the calendar: a popup bike shop from Levi's, the return of New Belgium Brewing Company's Tour de Fat and a bike-based rally for sustainability. Observe:

On Tuesday, the folks at Levi's will be throwing together a "Pop-up Bike Shop" in front of the denim maker's corporate HQ at Levi's Plaza (1155 Battery St.) to celebrate the release of their bike-friendly Commuter 511s. They'll have an expert mechanic and a custom tailor on hand to help out with free tune-ups and sewing reflective bits on to your less-visible articles of clothing. There's also something called a bike rodeo happening (will there also be bike rodeo clowns? Unclear.) The event is co-sponsored by Urban Outfitters and their maybe not-so-cool line of fixed gear bicycles, so it does pose a threat to your fixie cred, but also: free tune-up! [Details]

Two big events on Saturday: First up, for the drinkers, is New Belgium Brewing Company's annual Tour de Fat, "a pedal-powered FUNdraiser of Sustainable Folly" comes in Golden Gate Park's Lindley Meadow for the fourth year running. The event brings together bicycles, reasonably priced beer, live music and other sorts of pedal-powered merrymaking. 100% of proceeds from New Belgium's beer sales go towards local bike-related and environmental charities. Also happening on Saturday is the Moving Planet Parade and Bike Rally, designed to "call on local leaders to make use of California's landmark 'sustainable Communities Strategy' to end fossil fuel dependence, clean regional air, create healthy communities, peace and sustainability. All your favorite environmentalists like 350.org founder Bill McKibben and Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brume will be there giving speeches about saving the world and such. The ride leaves from Justin Herman Plaza at Noon and heads down Market to Civic Center. [Details]
