The Board of Supervisors are back in session as of today, but that won't be keeping our two current supes/candidates from making the usual public appearances this week: David Chiu and John Avalos will both be stepping out of the office to meet with the general public. Meanwhile, Leland Yee hosts a Luau on the Embarcadero:

Leland Yee: The State Senator might be exiled from Chinatown, but that doesn't mean he can't go after the Asian Pacific Islander vote with a waterfront Luau. Yee, as you probably know, got his Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii and still owes $6 for a bottle of sunscreen he accidentally stole while vacationing in that state, so he has a particular affinity for the Hawaiian culture. Yee's Luau takes place Thursday night at Carnelian by the Bay (behind the Ferry Building) and will include a "light buffet" of traditional foods, live performances from local talent. For a $20 donation, attendees will have the opportunity to partake in a cash bar. [Details]

John Avalos: The D11 "heartthrob" will be making at appearance at a Women for Avalos fundraising happy hour this Friday at Brick and Mortar Music Hall. There will be DJs and ladies present, as well as D6 supe Jane Kim who gets top billing on the Women for Avalos host committee. A word of advice, gentleman: It might be a bit awkward if you show up, but you could always pull a Tom Hanks. [Details]

Bonus appearance: Avalos will be leaving his own soiree early to bounce over to a Mission House Party. Which, if it's anything like the Mission house parties we've been to, will probably result in a lot of regrettable pictures he doesn't want tagged on Facebook. Let's hope he's not out too late Friday night, there's a Mayoral Forum bright and early at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in Avalos' home district. [Details]

David Chiu: Chiu's random "Where's David?" series of appearances will bring him to Bi-Rite Market on 18th Street tomorrow. His calendar says he'll be there at 11 a.m. - or just before lunch. Hopefully no one will make him wait in line. [Details]

Joanna Rees: Continuing on her coffee shop tour of the city, Joanna will be at Chameleon Café in Nob Hill for "Talk of the Neighborhood: Russian Hill". We could point out the irony of "A Mayor for our Neighborhoods" not knowing which neighborhood she's actually going to be speaking to, but we're more concerned about these reports we're hearing that Chameleon Café doesn't offer asiago bagels. Travesty! Whatever bagel varieties they do serve, however, will be provided along with other refreshments courtesy of the Rees campaign. [Details]

Bonus appearance: On Saturday, Rees will be at Lafayette park for a dog-friendly picnic.
