Harry Denton's Starlight Room reopens at the top of the Sir Francis Drake after a brief renovation next Tuesday, and for this week's Friday cocktail we bring you a new creation from newly hired bar manager Joel Teitelbaum, most recently of Zero Zero fame.

It's a fruit-forward concoction that elevates the tacky strawberry margarita to artisan cocktail status, using reposado tequila and a homemade peppercorn syrup for a spice note — strawberry and peppercorns go quite beautifully together, in case you doubt it.

Cheers everyone, and happy long weekend.

Jalisco Cobbler

1 ½ Partida reposado tequila
¾ oz Black peppercorn syrup*
¾ oz Lime
3 strawberries

Shake all of the ingredients together with ice and pour into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.

*Make a simple syrup of one part sugar to one part water and steep two handfuls of black peppercorns in it overnight or for several days in a sealed container. Strain out peppercorns.
