With some controversy having been stirred over whether it is in a candidate's best interest to attend a debate or go out drinking on the town, we expect to see more surprise social drinking events and perhaps some dwindling attendance at upcoming debates and forums. With that in mind, we bring you a brief list of scheduled debates, forums and drinking opportunities. In chronological order:

David Chiu: Tonight, the Board President returns to his home district to for a happy hour fundraiser at Taverna Aventine from 6 - 8 p.m. Taverna Aventine was voted "Best Happy Hour" in San Francisco Magazine's 2010 Best of the Bay. Do with that what you will. Details.

Chiu also has a smattering of "Where's David?" events coming up, where he pops up at various venues around town to work/volunteer/be seen. Sadly, none of them appear to be at bars or drinking establishments this week.

Joanna Rees: Tonight, Joanna Rees continues her neighborhood coffee tour by stopping in to Bean Bag Café on Divisadero. Being intimately familiar with the café's bohemian happy hours, we don't suspect anyone will be drinking coffee. Or paying attention to Joanna for that matter. She does say she's springing for food and drinks though. Details.

Phil Ting: Phil Ting's ResetSanFrancisco.org calendar is perpetually dry, which makes us wonder if someone from his camp accidentally (ahem) reset something. Ting's lone upcoming event is a Tuesday night forum to discuss Muni reform. Tagging along with Ting are SFMTA Deputy Director Tim Papandreou, Joél Ramos of the SFMTA Board of Directors and Greg Dewar - Muni blogger/activist, SFist commenter and N-Judah chronicler. Again: no booze here, but since it's a Muni-related event expect somebody in the back to be brownbagging a tallcan of Budweiser anyway. Details. (Update: @ResetSFnotes there will be beer, wine and food on hand. No need to brown bag, but organizers would like you to RSVP so they can accomodate your drinking habits.)

Everybody else: Conflicting with Ting's event is the State of the Arts, SF Mayoral Arts Forum at YBCA. Sponsored by pretty much every Arts group in the city and moderated by KQED's Michael Krasny, the forum should give the other nine serious candidates a chance to answer some very pressing questions about our arts community in San Francisco or a platform from which they can launch more spitballs at Ed Lee. One or the other. Details. (Note: We're also told tickets are nearly sold out.)

Everybody, Again: On Wednesday, eight of the serious candidates will again convene for a debate hosted by the Raoul Wallenberg Jewish Democrat Club at the Jewish Community Center. Apparently Tony Hall and Joanna Rees weren't invited (or Terry Baum for that matter), but Israeli Consul General Akiva Tor and "other prominent Jewish community members" will be in attendance. Attendees are invited to ask questions of the candidates, but mostly we're just hoping somebody's Bubby pinches Herrera's rosy cheesk. Details.
