Update: Sadly, the bodies believed to be those of the father and daughter were found in the suspect's vehicle last night in a remote area of El Dorado County, near Placerville.
The FBI issued a state-wide Amber Alert yesterday for 2-year-old Madeline Samaan-Fey of Sacramento, who was abducted last Sunday by her father, 49-year-old Mourad "Moni" Samaan. Samaan initially had joint custody of Madeline, but Madeline's mother had won full custody the day before the abduction.
FBI agent John Cauthen told Mercury News that Samaan and Madeline were last seen on Sunday in a Sacramento Raley's grocery store, and there hasn't been a trace of them since.
There haven't been any big leads so far, but Samaan is known to have connections in the Bay Area. Authorities suspect the two are still somewhere in California because there have been no border sightings. Samaan was born in Egypt but is a U.S. citizen and speaks Spanish.
Samaan is 49, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. Madeline is 2-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 28 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes. Samaan drives a Green Toyota 4Runner, California license plate: 3XRM111.
