More brief updates today in the ongoing story of EJ, the woman with the harrowing AirBnB hosting experience. In only her second blog post since she originally detailed the incident at the end of June, EJ writes in to explain that she believes AirBnB is sincere in their apology and applauds their upgraded security measures, but she is not a fan of, "the nasty comments and unwarranted name-calling that have been thrown in [her] face", particularly those from noted Tech bloggers and venture capitalists who have an interest in the young startup.

Although EJ doesn't name names, Gawker points us to comments from tech blogger Robert Scoble, who called the victim "batshit crazy", as well as Paul Graham, the founder of Y Combinator - a startup incubator that has backed AirBnB from the beginning.

Stepping in to defend EJ's character is the victim's sister, who turns out to be the widow of deceased Houston Astros pitcher/San Diego Padres pitching coach (and Bay Area native) Dave Smith. Writing in an open letter to Gawker, EJ's sister Alix explains:

...it has been very frustrating for me to read some of the comments written about EJ and how she may be lying or greedy or just made up this whole story for attention. It is true, there are so many bad guys out there. People who want attention at the expense of someone else, people who are money hungry, vandals, liars and criminals. My sister is far from any of that.

She goes on to call out Scoble and Graham for having, "the arrogance and nerve to speak out as they did and encourage so many out there to doubt her," which sounds like a fair assessment to us.

As for the criminal investigation - EJ has yet to speak on the subject mentioning that part is still ongoing.
