On the steps of City Hall this afternoon, roughly 100 people gathered to pretend urge Temporary Mayor Ed Lee to officially enter the Mayor's Race and run for a full term in November. According to organizers from Progress for All, the group behind the Run Ed Run campaign, the event marks their last official day campaigning, because they would like to give Mayor Lee "some space" before the filing deadline on August 12th.

Speaking of that August 12th deadline: the still-elusive Lee (who recently returned from visiting family and also playing gold) has hinted today that he'll make another announcement regarding his future plans "within the next 12 days". In other words, Ed Lee intends to make an announcement before the deadline for making announcements. Got it?

As for those 100 or so supporters who showed up in Civic Center today: SFCitizen notes the group's striking similarity to the busloads of supporters shipped in for the Save Ed Jew rallies a few years back, but we'll leave that sort of speculation to the documentarians.
