MUSIC: Jackeline Rago directs Venezuelan Music Project, a dynamic ensemble that performs a wide range of music combining Indigenous-Venezuelan, West African and Spanish-European influences -- from folklore-driven songs (executed with traditional instruments) to more contemporary urban dance compositions (complemented by the addition of the electric bass, flute, and saxophone).

FILM: Director Mike Leigh (Secrets and Lies, Naked) brings us his latest film, Another Year, which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The film "is a meditation on happiness," following a happy middle-aged couple over the course of four seasons, through several get-togethers with some of their less contented friends. The actors went through months of improvisation while developing the script, resulting in "touching and beautifully nuanced performances."
