Late yesterday SFist received the following inquiry by way of our our Twitter feed: "Can anyone recommend a reputable cooperative that distributes wholesale volumes of organic [preferable local] trail mix?" First of all: what? That is a ridiculously specific request for snack mix, hippie. Second, because we're polite on occasion, a list of possible places to look after the jump:
Rainbow Grocery: Since you're the only picky snacker North of San Jose who apparently hasn't heard of Rainbow, we're not going to explain it to you.
When in the East Bay on official business, we're big fans of Berkeley Bowl. Actually, we just like telling people we shop for groceries in a converted Bowling Alley where there is never enough Prius parking. It's also just far enough to fall within the range of a 100% electric vehicle and the extra 5 bucks spent on tolls makes the almonds and vegan-yogurt-covered-raisins taste that much sweeter.
The Gas Station at Fell and Divisadero: No, not the Arco - they're part of British Petroleum. The Spirit Gas across the street where the attached convenience store sells trail mix of about the same quality you'd find at a Hudson News location in an airport terminal, except for about a third of the price at $1.99.
If none of these option is sufficient, we recommend you go ahead and move to Bolinas where the whole town is basically one big co-op. Seriously, sit on the street corner (there's really only one) in Bolinas long enough and someone will probably just bring you a bag they made themselves.
Future inquires, questions and requests for advice should be directed to [email protected] or @ us on twitter.
