According to SF Appeal, "a crowd of dog owners, fans, and SF City Supervisors gathered outside the Golden Gate National Recreational Area offices at Fort Mason last night, to protest a proposal to restrict dog walking areas in places like Crissy Field, Ocean Beach and Fort Funston and entirely banning dogs from places like Muir Beach."

Many dog owners claim that the stricter leash laws are "extreme" and "unnecessary." After all, more humans than dogs use city parks as a bathroom.

But sill, dog owners are upset. And rightfully so. "I can't keep up with my dog but having a place for her to run around and let off steam is so healthy and makes me so happy," Ilana Minkoff, who adopted a rescue dog after coming down with cancer, explained to the Chronicle. "I will fight for her to have that space 'til the day I die because she's my angel."

At last night's protest, Supervisor Scott Wiener told the rabid (get it?) crowd, "We need to make sure they understand that this is not a national park [or] museum, it's a recreational area."
