This one is just too good to let it go: UC Berkeley Police arrested one Matt Dodt of Berkeley yesterday after he attacked someone in his makeshift treehouse in People's Park. Dodt had apparently been living in the tree for the past few weeks "possibly as a form of protest" according to authorities. Per Bay City News, "The victim said Dodt invited him up into the tree to talk, but a dispute broke out, and Dodt allegedly tried to cut the man's neck with a knife, [UC Police Lt. Marc] Decoulode said."
Luckily, the victim managed to block the slash with his hand rather than his jugular. Cops spent almost 5 hours over Thursday night and Friday morning trying to get the knifey tree-sitter down from his roost before he finally descended on his own. Cops still don't know the relationship between Dodt and the victim, or why anyone would ever willingly climb into a grown man's makeshift treehouse after dark.
